A Banner Elk Vacation Rental Built for Big Groups: Inside Valle View Retreat

Long farmhouse dining table for family-style meals at Valle View Retreat

Finding a mountain rental that genuinely works for a big group is harder than it should be. Too often, a house that sleeps twenty only has one living room, a kitchen built for four and a staircase that grandparents dread. Valle View Retreat in Valle Crucis, about 7 miles from Banner Elk, was set up the other way round.

Room for twenty, all on one level

The house is a 4,000+ square foot ranch-style home with five bedrooms, 11 beds and four full bathrooms. Everything is on one floor, with no stairs anywhere and step-free access from the accessible parking spot into the home. That makes it easy for toddlers, grandparents and anyone in between.

Two living rooms, so nobody is on top of each other

There are two large living rooms, both with gas fireplaces and Roku Smart TVs, and one has surround sound for movie night. The grown-ups can talk by the fire in one while the kids take over the other.

A kitchen you can cook a real meal in

The chef’s kitchen has a double oven, a five-burner stove, a double air fryer, sous vide and a stand mixer, plus serving trays for big dinners. There’s a coffee bar with Keurig and Nespresso machines, and a wine bar with glassware ready to go. The long dining table seats the whole group, and the back porch seats 16 or more under string lights. If you’d rather nobody cooked, you can book a private chef through our partner yhangry.

Something for every age

The renovated game room has an 8-foot pool table, regulation foosball, skee-ball, a 9-foot shuffleboard and a Sonos soundbar. Outside, there’s a wood-burning fire pit with 12 Adirondack chairs, cornhole, and an 8-person hot tub looking out over the valley.

Ready for little ones

Families with babies and young kids can pack lighter. There’s a Pack ‘n Play, toddler utensils, suction bowls, sippy cups, a play tent, books and toys, and sound machines in every bedroom.

Stay connected if you need to

Fiber internet runs at 500+ Mbps, Wi-Fi beacons cover the whole house, and there’s a dedicated workspace for anyone who has to log on.
